Jill Nelson (formerly Engelhardt) holds a PhD in Biblical Studies from Brite Divinity School. She is particularly interested in the canonical Gospels, empire criticism, disability studies, and gender criticism. She is the author "Matthew, Disability, and Stress: Examining Impaired Characters in the Context of Empire" (Fortress Academic, 2022) and co-editor of "The Gospels and Empire" (Bloomsbury, forthcoming).
